Lindsey Schaffel, M.S., CCC-SLP, SLS started One of a Kind Therapy in 2019. Prior to starting One of a Kind Therapy, Lindsey worked for many years in a public school district, while also contracting for Early Intervention, private practices and Children's Specialized Hospital. She holds a Master of Science degree in Speech–Language Pathology from New York Medical College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences from Indiana University-Bloomington. Lindsey has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association, as well as her NJ State License and a Teaching Certification for a Speech Language Specialist.
Lindsey is an Augmentative and Alternative communication (AAC) specialist. She has spent her entire career working with children on the Autsim Spectrum and within ABA settings. She has also worked extensively with children that are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Lindsey's therapeutic philosophy centers around life skills.and functionality in settings outside of speech therapy. She believes that a child's goals should be addressed through topics that are important to them and their families. Therapy should be fun and functional! Additionally, Lindsey likes to incorporate family members or other important individuals (teachers, friends etc.) into therapy whenever possible.
One of a Kind Therapy has a team of highly qualified Speech, Occupational and Physical therapists. Each therapist is experienced in working pediatric patients and exemplifies the mission of One of a Kind Therapy's approach, to functionally based therapy.
